Hair Coloring Tips

If your quinceanera is coming up, there is a good chance that you have hair on your mind as well as on your head! Take some time and make sure that you are going to be making the right decisions about your lovely locks.

Lots of girls decide that their quinceanera is a good time to try something new, but it can be a little nerve wracking. With all of your friends and family there, is this really a good time to experiment with something like coloring your hair? The truth is that this is a great time to really stretch your wings and see what colors might suit you, and if you want to experiment with hair coloring, there are just a few things to keep in mind.

First, remember that for the most professional and even results that you should go to a stylist. A stylist will have tools that you simply won't get in the average hair dye kit, and they often have the experience that it takes to make sure that you are not going to stain your skin. They can also give you some great color options that you would not have considered.

When you are looking into changing your hair color, always consider how well it is going to go with your skin tone and your eye color. For instance, if you have pinkish or reddish tones in your skin, you may find that red or golden brown color can wash you out. Similarly, if you have a lot of yellow in your skin, be careful around shades that are overly yellow or orange.

Also consider what you are going to be wearing. If you are dying your hair specifically for your big day, keep in mind that a hair color that may look great with your normal clothing may be a little odd on your dress. If you are planning on wearing something that has rich tones, you may find that going for a deep, dark hair color can really bring it out. This is a good time to try a warm burgundy color or a jet black.

Whether you are going to a stylist or doing this at home, keep in mind the fact that you should always do a strand test. Separate out a few hairs and take it through the process. You never know when a particular dye will do something odd to your hair or when a color just doesn't live up to the label.

Similarly, if you are going to a stylist, bring along some samples of what you are looking at, whether they are pictures printed from the computer or clippings of a magazine. This will make sure that you are all on the same page and it will get you the best results.

Once your hair has been dyed, remember that it is going to be in bad shape. Dying your hair is typically fairly bad for it, especially if bleach was involved, so baby it. Deep condition it, sleep with it up and generally take good care of it.

Getting a new hair color for your quinceanera is a great way to celebrate, so consider what kind of options you have!
